Farrans is a key part of Bangor Marine Ltd., a new joint venture that is developing ambitious plans to regenerate the heart of one of Northern Irelandís most famous seaside towns.
A public consultation has been launched by Bangor Marine Ltd, the partnership behind a £50m regeneration project at Queen’s Parade, Bangor which is set to transform the historic seafront of Bangor.
The pre-application community consultation began on 18th June 2019 in advance of the submission of the full planning application, scheduled for submission later this year.
The consultation event will provide information on the proposal and provides an opportunity for members of the public, interest groups and business interests to share their views on the proposal which is set to play a vital role in the future economic success of the town.
Bangor Marine is a joint venture partnership between Karl Group and Farrans created specially to deliver the project. The extensive plans focus on transforming the historic Queen’s Parade area, making Bangor a world-class destination that is a vibrant, attractive and cohesive place for everyone to enjoy.
The proposals are underpinned by a range of residential units designed to provide choice for end users complemented by employment, leisure and tourism uses which collectively seek to improve the vitality of Bangor town centre.
The regeneration plans also seek to better connect Queen’s Parade with the seafront by redeveloping the Marine Gardens car park into an attractive public realm area consisting of external events space, cafes, sheltered promenade & kiosks, beach, seafront lawns, children’s play area & water feature. This area will better connect the seafront and the Marina with the town centre and provide a destination for town centre users.
Further pre-application community consultation events are also scheduled on August 1st and 2nd.
Jennifer Johnston from Farrans said: “We are delighted to be working with Karl Group to bring forward this highly exciting project which is set to completely transform, regenerate and restore the vibrancy of Bangor’s waterfront.”
“During this consultation process we welcome feedback from the public on our plans and look forward to engaging with the people who live, work and visit Bangor.
“This project offers an excellent mix of public space, retail, office, leisure and living space which will attract locals and tourists to the area and bring further investment into Ards and North Down area."
