4th December 2018
Last week, Farrans held a Sub-Contractor Conference in Belfast - the first of its kind for the business.
The conference sought to generate discussion about the key challenges faced by sub-contractors, as well as highlighting important messages around Health and Safety.
Hosted in the Crowne Plaza, the conference saw more than 50 people come together, including representatives from all Farrans’ subcontractors, Farrans directors and SHEQ personnel.
And with much preparation ahead of the event, it proved to be a productive and meaningful session.
The audience heard direct addresses from Farrans Managing Director, John Wilson, as well as Darren McClean, Head of SHEQ, and Darrell McGuckian, Operations Director.
The key messages delivered were around safety, including the attitudes and behaviours expected on-site - a top agenda item at Farrans where the H&S motto is that “there is nothing so important that we cannot take the time to do it safely”.
The ‘together’ ethos - an internal campaign launched throughout the business during 2018 – was also a key theme at the event. This drove home a clear message about sub-contractors and site management teams working together and embracing a collaborative approach to keeping everyone safe in 2019.
Group workshops allowed opinions and ideas to be exchanged, ensuring the event was a highly interactive one, with plenty of positive feedback afterwards.
Building on this success, it has been agreed that a number of follow-up sessions will be held throughout 2019 and beyond.
