The Project

The A52 is the key east-west link across the East Midlands. The route is subject to congestion at its junctions, due to capacity issues, resulting in significant queuing and delays.  The GFJV project is to deliver improvements to four junctions, within Highways England’s A52 Nottingham junction improvement scheme, which is being delivered in phases.

GFJV is working on four smaller junctions: A52 Gamston roundabout, A52 Stragglethorpe Road junction, A52 Bingham Road junction and A52/A435 Silverdale junction.  The junctions are being improved to cope with congestion and provide capacity for the increase in traffic anticipated when local developments are completed.

The project will improve safety; with changes to the junction layouts to reduce congestion and turning conflicts and introducing traffic lights to manage the flow of traffic through the junctions safely and more effectively.

Services & Expertise

Effective communications and stakeholder engagement strategies will be used to keep residents and road users informed; mitigating possible negative sentiment during the construction period.  Traffic management and sequencing of works will be planned with careful consideration of the impact on local residents and the travelling public.

We will work hard to keep any noise, dust and vibration, as a result of the works, to a minimum, particularly adjacent to residential areas.  Hedgerow and tree removal and pruning will be kept to a minimum, to reduce any negative environmental impacts.

More information on the scheme can be found on the Highways England webpage.
