Farrans’ sterling reputation in the construction industry owes much to our respectful attitude to the environment in which we work. Our environmental and sustainability policies have been woven into the fabric of our workforce and it is this inherent knowledge and sense of responsibility which continues to drive our success. Implementing these policies ensures honesty about the consequences of our activities at all times. Such a candid approach not only minimises negative impact and maximises positive opportunities; it also consolidates strong, trusting relationships with our Clients and stakeholders.
In recognising that our construction activities may have a significant impact on the environment, Farrans commits to the prevention of pollution by operating our business in an environmentally sustainable manner. We have developed an environmental management system, in accordance with the requirements of the International Environmental Management Standard ISO 14001 through which we set, review and implement timetabled environmental objectives and targets. Best Available Techniques (BAT) are also crucial in our awareness of environmental sensitivity. These decisions are well-considered – they are based on professional advice and close liaison with relevant authorities and agencies to minimise adverse environmental impact. We also ensure that, where practicable, materials purchased have a recycled content and have a minimal negative impact on the environment. We also actively encourage our major suppliers to minimise the negative impact of their operations on the environment.
